Jeff Hancock, CFP, CLU, C.H.FC, CHS

Senior Partner

As a founding partner of Secura Financial Group, Jeff has always been interested and actively involved in the strategic operations and direction of the firm. He is always striving to ensure that Secura clients benefit from an exceptional experience. What Jeff enjoys most is spending time with clients, learning about what is important to them and then helping them to create their customized Master Financial Plan. He enjoys the challenge of finding unique and achievable ways of helping clients to reach their goals. Jeff graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an honours Bachelor of Arts. He is a Certified Financial Planner and also holds the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Certified Health Insurance Specialist.

On the personal side…
Jeff was born and raised in Kingston. After a short stint living away from Kingston, it was an easy decision for he and his wife, Nicole, to move back to raise their family. Their twin boys, Kyle and Mack and daughter, Brynn provide endless hours of enjoyment for them. For years Jeff has been involved with his boy’s hockey team and association. He also leads an annual golf tournament that has benefited the Alzheimer’s Society of Kingston and our own initiative, Secura Wish. Jeff loves to spend time with his family at the cottage in the summer and travelling just about anywhere. When possible he enjoys golfing (with his boys) and skiing…on snow or water and of course, just spending play time with Brynn.

Patrick Murphy, CFP

Senior Partner

Patrick has never had a bad day! Pat’s positive attitude, his high energy, and his infectious laugh put the people around him at ease and make them want to be closer to Pat and Secura Financial Group. Pat understands people very well, and he uses that understanding effectively in motivating his clients to do what needs to be done to help them achieve their financial goals and dreams. Patrick is passionate about helping his clients and community by connecting people and ideas to help them get what they need out of life.

On the personal side…
Pat and his wife Chris have two children, Jensen and Callan. When Pat isn’t in the office meeting with clients, you can find him working with local charities, playing or taking in a sporting event, dining at one of the great Kingston restaurants, or surrounded by family and friends at Wolfe Lake in Westport. In Pat’s ‘spare time’, you can find him raising money for people in need as Pat fronts the local retro rock band 80s Enuff. A legendary band in Kingston, probably because of their costume changes. 80s Enuff have worked with charitable events that have helped raise over a half a million dollars for individuals and organizations in need.

Melissa Courtney

Client Service Specialist

Working alongside the operations team, Melissa provides a high level of support to our clients and advisors. Whether it’s in her personal life or at work, Melissa finds peace of mind in staying organized and having a set plan to follow. It’s extremely important to her that our clients, whether leaving our office or hanging up the phone, feel a sense of comfort and confidence in knowing we are doing everything to take care of them the best way we can. She holds both her mutual fund and life insurance license. Melissa takes great pride in being a part of the dynamic team at Secura.

On the personal side…
After graduating from St. Lawrence College with an Advertising and Marketing Diploma 2009, Melissa had planned to take off to a bigger, fast-paced city. But once it came time to take that leap she realised just how much she loves this area. Growing up north of Kingston in the small town of Inverary, Melissa has been fortunate enough to spend many years lakeside. She enjoys outdoor activities such as boating, canoeing, and simply relaxing by the water with family and friends.
She is a strong believer in a balanced life; working hard and staying focused while always making time to enjoy the activities she loves most.
